The Origin of
Syzygy International
Syzygy International LLC is a Northern Virginia-based Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), founded upon a lifetime of distinguished service and a vision for uncompromising security excellence. The firm was established by Major General U.S. Army (Retired) Phillip M. Churn Sr., following his retirement from the U.S. Army after 37 years of honorable service to the Nation. Throughout his storied career, General Churn led organizations ranging from tactical fire support teams to the largest military police formation in the U.S. Department of Defense—a force of over 13,000+ personnel spanning 34 states, and 5 continents to support global security operations.

Syzygy represents the professional evolution of General Churn’s leadership in training, mobilizing, and deploying security force personnel for humanitarian missions, large-scale training exercises, and combat operations. His expertise encompasses executive protection, physical security, customs, law enforcement, and criminal investigations.
A hallmark of this journey includes the specialized training of over 300 Criminal Investigation Division (CID) Special Agents in the advanced techniques required to protect the nation’s highest-ranking officials in the Department of Defense, including the Secretary of Defense, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Secretary of the Army, Chief of Staff of the Army, and four and three Star Army Generals around the world. General Churn has now translated these high-consequence methodologies into a strategic framework specifically tailored for the private and corporate sectors.
